The now-famous Midjourney AI tool faces quality competition almost every day, making it difficult for those just starting to explore AI art to distinguish between the good and the bad.
To help you decide which one to choose, I'll compare the key characteristics of Midjourney and its rival DreamStudio, in this article.
Check out: Diffusion Art vs. Dreamlike Art.
The artificial intelligence tools Midjourney and Dream Studio operate on user input.
Both tools operate in a way that allows them to process user input and produce images based on that data. Users need to use more in-depth, descriptive sentences to achieve better results.
Midjourney, owned by Midjourney, Inc., is one of the best AI image generators currently on the market.
A tool called Midjourney uses a sophisticated Discord server rather than a web-based interface.
Midjourney is distinctive from other AI image generators in that it can design products, landing pages for websites, logos, architecture/interior designs, and much more.
DreamStudio is a program that makes it simple to produce images from text.
It transforms your text into beautiful images quickly and effectively using stable diffusion technology.
You receive some free credits to try out DreamStudio when you first start using it.

However, Midjourney's free version is no longer available, so you'll need to at least sign up for their free version if you want to start customizing digital art.
In addition, you can generate images by either inviting the Midjourney bot to your server or using the designated "Newbie" channels.
Nevertheless, it's crucial to keep in mind that creating images in the 'Newbie' channels makes the resulting artwork accessible to all users because it's public.
Midjourney offers the 'Stealth' mode option, but the 'Basic' and 'Standard' plans do not have access to it.
To start using the tool, you must create a Discord account and join their server.
Free credits are offered, which can be used to create images. These credits are useful for new users who need to know the tool and explore its features.
In this manner, they can make the most of the tool's capabilities without having to worry about paying money right away.
Users of DreamStudio have access to a style library where they can add various styles to the images they produce. Users can choose from a variety of styles, including comic books, anime, photography, origami, and film.
This additional useful software feature enables users to create a particular look without describing it in the prompt.
Another intriguing and distinctive feature that many tools of a similar nature lack is the negative prompt.
“Alice in Wonderland, sitting by a tree, looking at a melting pocket clock set on the tree's branch.”
I decided to use the same prompt for both tools in order to make it easier for the users to differentiate between the results and decide which one is better.
A big share of the given prompt was followed through; however, I was a bit disappointed that the clock wasn’t melting and that the overall look on Alice’s face wasn’t as quality as I wanted it to be.
For Midjourney’s results, I have more or less the same remarks, such as the fact that Alice isn’t looking at the clock and the clock isn’t melting. However, Midjourney did create higher-quality results with a better overall look.
In summary, Dream Studio, and Midjourney both provide distinctive features and functionalities in the field of AI image generation.
Dream Studio stands out thanks to its streamlined prompt-giving procedure, which makes it accessible and user-friendly.
Users can create images on the platform and even share these templates with others using pre-made templates or custom combinations of styles.
Midjourney, on the other hand, requires joining their Discord channel and provides a stealth mode for privacy. With Midjourney, users can input prompts and receive AI-generated images to harness the power of generative AI.
