Join us as we explore the capabilities and potential of these remarkable AI tools, uncovering what they are and identifying which one might be the perfect fit for you.
Midjourney and Prompt Hunt are two generative AI tools that have the ability to convert basic prompts into AI-generated images. These tools operate in a manner similar to other AI tools, as they are trained to understand natural language and provide information based on the queries they receive.
Midjourney, developed by Midjourney, Inc., is among the recently emerged generative AI tools. This tool operates by taking user prompts and can be categorized alongside other notable tools like DALL-E and Stable Diffusion. Unlike web-based tools, Midjourney requires users to join their Discord channel and input their prompts there in order to utilize its capabilities.
Prompt Hunt is a platform that operates in a similar manner to Midjourney. Users can input a phrase or sentence, and the platform generates an image based on the provided text prompt.
Additionally, users have the option to upload a reference image to guide the platform in achieving the desired results. Its simplified approach to giving prompts sets Prompt Hunt apart from other AI image generators, making the process more user-friendly and straightforward.
As I mentioned above, Midjourney is a Discord-based tool. To start using the tool, you must create a Discord account and join their server.
However, Midjourney’s free version is no longer available, so to start tailoring digital art, you’ll need to at least sign up for their free version.
Furthermore, the image generation process can be carried out in either the designated 'Newbie' channels or by inviting the Midjourney bot to your server.
However, it is important to note that generating images in the 'Newbie' channels makes the resulting artwork visible to all members, as it is public.
Midjourney provides a 'Stealth' mode option, but it is not available for the 'Basic' and 'Standard' plans.
Prompt Hunt allows users to generate images using pre-defined templates or create custom templates by combining various styles. These templates can then be saved and shared with other users for their use.
In addition to textual prompts, Prompt Hunt also allows users to upload reference images. These reference images serve as guides for the AI tool during the image generation process, ensuring that the final image aligns with the intended vision.
“Hyperrealistic portrait of Michael Jackson sitting on a diner table with an overall look like a Wes Anderson movie.”
I decided to use the same prompt for both tools in order to make it easier for the users to differentiate between the results and decide which one is better.
The result for the abovementioned prompt is the following image on Midjourney:
I do have quite a few remarks about the result, starting from the fact that the image has a cartoon-like overall look instead of hyperrealistic. The pastel colors are Wes Anderson-suitable; however, I do believe that a better outcome could have happened.
The result for the abovementioned prompt is the following image on Prompt Hunt:
The result wasn’t disappointing; however, both AI tools tend to create images very cartoon-like, even when prompted otherwise. In addition, the Prompt Hunt results didn’t add any segments resembling a Wes Anderson movie, so I think Midjourney has won this round.

Prompt Hunt stands out with its simplified prompt-giving process, making it user-friendly and accessible.
The platform allows users to create images using pre-defined templates or personalized combinations of styles and even share these templates with others.
On the other hand, Midjourney requires joining their Discord channel for prompt input and offers a stealth mode for privacy. With Midjourney, users can tap into the power of generative AI by inputting prompts and receiving AI-generated images.
Ultimately, the choice between Prompt Hunt and Midjourney depends on the user's specific needs and preferences.
